Time After Time - Talitha May

Layered time
Textured time

Talitha May invites viewers of her illustrations and photographs to ponder and re-visit the overlooked. She holds a Ph.D. in English specializing in rhetoric and composition, and she teaches writing at Portland State University. Outside the classroom, she enjoys Pilates, reading, and daily forest hiking. Among her favorite scents is bergamot.

Textured Time and Layered Time are inspired by philosopher Byung-Chul Han’s book Saving Beauty, in which he challenges habituated notions of beauty such as the new, bright, and homogenous. These wizened bodies of accreted folds, fades, shadows, and scars, map and celebrate unique histories of identity.
