Hibernation - Victoria Wiswell

In hibernation’s
      silent song,
I’ve been
waiting for the first signs of spring ‒
a sleepy-eyed flower, petals plump with dew,
a born new blade of grass, reedy and lime green ‒
to arrive and
rouse me,
revive me
from the death of winter’s
      cold metal claw,
and carry me forward into
the new season’s
      satin sun.

Victoria Wiswell lives outside Seattle, WA, with her human and animal family. When she isn’t writing, she spends her time photographing the Pacific Northwest, working on various art projects and staying fit. She has always enjoyed traveling and has made it her New Year’s Resolution to travel more in 2024.
